She trained in oil painting, and went on to study textile painting on cotton and silk, pottery, porcelain painting and the enamel and silver-wire techniques behind her jewellery.
Much of that study happened abroad. Her husband served as an Egyptian diplomat, and she painted her way through postings in Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Italy — which is why a Cairo street scene and a Japanese doll sit comfortably in the same body of work.
She has held solo and group exhibitions in each of those countries. In Egypt she has shown at the Cairo Opera House, the Hanager Arts Center, the Ahmed Shawky Museum and the Egyptian Center for International Cooperation, and she took part in the second and third Jewelry Festivals at Gezira in Cairo.
